NOK Receives Global Award for Excellence in Quality from Yamaha Motor
NOK Corporation (Headquarters: Shibadaimon, Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, Group Chief Executive Officer: Masao Tsuru; hereinafter referred to as "NOK") is pleased to announce that it has received the FY2025 Global Award for excellence in Quality at the 2026 YAMAHA Global Suppliers Conference, hosted by Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Iwata City, Shizuoka Prefecture; President and Representative Director: Motofumi Shitara; hereinafter referred to as "Yamaha Motor").
This marks the fourth time NOK has received the excellence in Quality award, in recognition of quality management that delivers stable quality across five global sites. NOK will continue strengthening its global quality management and driving further improvements going forward.
The award plaque presented to recipient companies features a design motif that reflects the philosophy of Yamaha Motor's Procurement Division: irises (ayame), symbolizing trust and hope, and seigaiha (blue wave) patterns, symbolizing growth and ever-expanding prosperity.
The Quality Management Behind the Award
At its sites around the world, NOK promotes quality management using video equipment and digital tools. NOK continues improvement activities tailored to the challenges at each site: visualizing the transfer of skilled expertise, systematizing education, and analyzing the root causes of equipment stoppages. These initiatives drive stable quality as a result.
Visualization and Improvement Using Video Equipment
- Analyzing footage shot from the worker's own viewpoint to visualize and standardize the instinct and know-how of skilled workers, ensuring reliable skills transfer.
- Accurately identifying hard-to-perform tasks from point-of-view footage, and improving work procedures and the work environment accordingly.
- Reviewing recorded footage of the moments before a temporary equipment stoppage to pinpoint the true cause of the issue.
Systematizing Education and Close On-Site Inspection Using Digital Tools
- Building a system of repeated training via on-site tablets to embed and standardize knowledge and skills.
- Detecting minor abnormalities early through close inspection by quality managers, raising quality levels through prompt improvement.
