First-Time Selection as a Constituent of the Sompo Sustainability Index
Recognized in the Areas of Sustainability, Stakeholder Communication, and Internal Communication
NOK Corporation (Headquarters: Shibadaimon, Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, Group Chief Executive Officer: Masao Tsuru; hereinafter “NOK”) has been selected for the first time as a constituent of the Sompo Sustainability Index, operated by Sompo Asset Management Co., Ltd..
The Sompo Sustainability Index consists of approximately 300 companies that meet certain ESG evaluation standards based on the ESG Management Survey and Environmental Management Survey (Buna no Mori Environmental Questionnaire), conducted by Sompo Risk Management Inc.. The index is used by institutional investors, including pension funds.
The NOK Group conducts its business with the aim of becoming a company that all stakeholders can take pride in, while pursuing both sustainable corporate growth and environmental and social sustainability. The Group has been expanding its ESG initiatives, and in this selection, in addition to this overall approach, it received particularly strong recognition in the areas of “Sustainability,” “Stakeholder Communication,” and “Internal Communication.”
Specifically, NOK was recognized for initiatives related to human capital, including the introduction of a new HR system and the enhancement of human resource development programs, as well as the implementation of supplier due diligence and proactive disclosure of information both inside and outside the company through the Integrated Report, ESG Data Book, and other channels. Going forward, NOK will continue working to improve the effectiveness of these initiatives and expand information disclosure.
