MEKTEC Supports and Participates in Community Initiative Led by Basketball Club Ibaraki Robots
Mektec and MEK-J supported and participated in a community initiative organized by the Ibaraki Robots, a professional basketball club competing in Japan's B.LEAGUE, titled "B.LEAGUE Hope × Nippon Life Energize the Community! Basket ACTION: Wheelchair Experience Day in Ushiku." The event was held in Ushiku City on Saturday, November 30, with employees and their family members taking part.
This initiative forms part of a broader effort to energize local communities and address social challenges through basketball. Participants experienced moving around Ushiku City using wheelchairs and worked together to create a barrier-free map. Through this hands-on experience, they deepened their understanding of how to help build a community where everyone can live safely and with peace of mind.
On the day, 11 participants from Mektec and MEK-J joined the activity. While navigating the city by wheelchair, they registered the locations of accessible restrooms, elevators, and other facilities using a dedicated app, enabling the information to be shared with the wider community. Viewing the town from the perspective of wheelchair users provided a valuable opportunity to raise awareness and encourage further progress toward improved accessibility at the local level.
As a company that grows together with its communities, Mektec will continue to support the Ibaraki Robots’ social contribution initiatives and remain committed to ongoing community engagement efforts.
