NOK Earns First-Ever "A-" Rating
for Water Security in CDP 2024
NOK Corporation (Headquarters: Shibadaimon, Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, Group Chief Executive Officer: Masao Tsuru; hereinafter referred to as "NOK") has received a leadership-level "A-" score for the first time in the area of water security, based on its responses to the 2024 CDP* Full Corporate Questionnaire, conducted by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), an international nonprofit organization headquartered in London that operates a global environmental disclosure system. NOK also received a "B" score in climate change, positioning the company at a “management level.”

This year's strong evaluation in water security was mainly driven by NOK Group's first-time disclosure of water intake reduction efforts at Mektec, a Group company. Mektec, which uses significant amounts of water to produce flexible printed circuits (FPC), has formulated a water intake management plan as a proactive measure against future water-related risks. The plan targets a 14% reduction in domestic water intake and a 5% reduction at overseas sites by FY2025, compared to FY2022 levels. In addition to optimizing water usage, the company promotes gradual reductions by recycling wastewater using NOK-manufactured filtration membranes.
Driven by initiatives like these, the NOK Group, under its banner of "Essential Core Manufacturing — The manufacture of pivotal products that shape society," is committed to minimizing the environmental impact of its business activities while continuing to pursue unique technologies. Looking ahead, the Group will continue to advance sustainability initiatives on a global scale, aiming to enhance corporate value and help realize a more sustainable society.
